Opening Sentences

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
in you Son Jesus Christ
you have given us a true faith and a sure hope.
Strengthen this faith and hope in us all our days,
that we may live as those who believe in the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
and thee resurrection to eternal life;
through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Psalm 8

O Lord our Governor, how excellent is thy Name in all the world: thou that hast set thy glory above the heavens!
Out of the mouth of very babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength, because of thine enemies: that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
For I will consider thy heavens, even the works of thy fingers: the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained.
What is man, that thou art mindful of him: and the son of man, that thou visited him?
Thou madest him lower than the angels: to crown him with glory and worship.
Thou makest him to have dominion of the works of thy hands: and thou put all things in subjection under his feet;
All sheep and oxen: yea, and the beasts of the field;
The fowls of the air, and the fishes of the sea: and whatsoever walketh through the paths of the seas.
O Lord our Governor: how excellent is thy Name in all the world!
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

The Revd. David Cook

Hymn:

For the beauty of the earth

Prayers

Minister: Let us pray.
Lord, have mercy upon us.

All: Christ, have mercy upon us.

Minister: Lord have mercy upon us.

All: Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed by they Name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread:
and forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation.
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever. Amen.

Hymn:

Now thank we all our God

The Blessing

The Committal will take place in the Globe Inn Garden (Family only).

There will be a retiring collection for

The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust.

Everyone is invited to St. Nicolas Hall for refreshments.

The Rose Beyond the Wall

A rose once grew where all could see,
sheltered beside a garden wall.
And, as the days passed swiftly by,
it spread its branches, straight and tall ...

One day, a beam of light shone through
a crevice that had opened wide ~
The rose bent gently towards its warmth
then passed beyond to the other side ...

Now, you who deeply feel its loss,
be comforted ~ the rose blooms there ~
Its beauty even greater now,
nurtured by God’s own loving care.
